StarCraft 2 to be released in 2010

According to the Wikipedia page, Starcraft 2 will be released in the first half of 2010. This is a welcome development for fans of the first game which was first released more than 10 years ago. I am skeptical about how much better the game will be as a decade is a very long time in technology and game development. We will see!

Blizzard has started to release some game videos along with transcripts.

Examples from transcript:

“Terran infantry and hellions make a push against the protoss position in the middle of the map. As the protoss player retreats to an elevated position, his zealots get stuck behind the stalkers, rendering them unable to attack. The terrans eventually destroy the proxy pylon.”

“The marauders sweep into the last remaining protoss expansion, with the probes desperately trying to chase off the attackers. Many probes get picked off by the marauders as they’re kited away from the base.”

Starcraft 2 is coming!

They just don’t like to say when… it’s always, no release date yet, we’re just working on it and it will be released when it’s ready. What a load of crap, by not announcing a release date they just build fan’s enthusiasm and desire for more information. Like “when the hell is it being released?” That’s got to be the sole common thread amongst all conversations between enthusiasts who talk about the product. So tell me — what’s your prediction? in 2008? I’m not sure..
