What no mention of StarCraft II? I’m sure that’s the product that will drive profit for the next 1.5 years at least.

The company reported a 33% increase in revenue to $1.3 billion in the first quarter. Meanwhile, industrywide sales of videogame software dropped 5.3% to $2.1 billion, after an 11% drop in 2009 as gamers cut spending in the recession.

WSJ: If you could snap your fingers, and instantly make one change in your company, what would it be, and why?
Mr. Kotick: I would have Call of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow. When you think about what the audience’s interests are and how you could really satisfy bigger audiences with more inspired, creative opportunities, I would love to see us have an online Call of Duty world. I think our players would just have so much of a more compelling experience.

Beta SC2 StarCraft 2 Ending

Oh fut me, I haven’t had a chance to try all day, but it seems the beta has really ended. They don’t allow StarCraft 2 connections to battle.net anymore. Too Bad! It’s All Over! Until my Collector’s Edition package arrives in late July. Maybe I’ll get some work done in the meantime

Recommend a Good RTS? Best Real-time strategy game?

Since the StarCraft II beta is coming to a close, tens of thousands of people will presumably suffer from SC2 withdrawal.
What RTS games do people recommend? Reply via comment below.
Personally I never cared for Command and Conquer and never tried World of WarCraft — I suppose that would be a good one to try.
But outside of Blizzard, what other real time strategy games are really good? post below

StarCraft 2 Beta Ending!

We previously announced that the first phase of the StarCraft II beta test would be coming to a close in all regions on Monday, May 31. In order to prepare for the final phase of beta testing, we plan to extend the current phase in all regions until Monday, June 7. After this date, the beta test will be unavailable for several weeks while we make some hardware and software configuration changes for the final phase of the beta test and the release of the game. We plan to bring the beta test back online for a couple of weeks prior to the game’s launch to complete our testing. We’ll have more details to share about when this final phase will begin at a later date.
We’d like to thank all of our beta-test participants for your enthusiasm, dedication, and valuable feedback during the beta test, and we look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on the StarCraft II beta test as the game’s July 27 launch approaches.
