“Somebody call for an exterminator?” and other SC ring tones

February 3rd, 2010 · Uncategorized

These ringtones crack me up. I guess I’d install it next time I’m visiting family — my two brothers and nephew with whom I’ve played StarCraft many, many afternoons and evenings might scratch their heads for a second until remembering where they recognize that soundclip :-)

StarCraft 2 to be released in 2010

December 23rd, 2009 · Uncategorized

According to the Wikipedia page, Starcraft 2 will be released in the first half of 2010. This is a welcome development for fans of the first game which was first released more than 10 years ago. I am skeptical about how much better the game will be as a decade is a very long time in technology and game development. We will see!

StarCraft 2 is Feature Complete

August 31st, 2009 · Uncategorized

According to fans who played StarCraft 2 at Blizzcon, StarCraft 2 is ready…. just waiting for the new Battle.net for release!

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2009/08/blizzcon-diablo-starcraft.html

“The game feels complete. We didn’t run into any bugs or oddities during several game sessions. Each faction appeared delicately balanced with teams able to achieve victories using a wide variety of tactics and mercenaries. The first batch of feedback from fans was overwhelmingly positive, developers at the show said.

“In reality, the sequel isn’t all that different from the original StarCraft, which first stormed store shelves in 1998. That’s kind of the point, Blizzard Chief Operating Officer Paul Sams said. “The original formula is important,” he said Saturday in Anaheim. “StarCraft is all about speed. It’s all about big armies and the competition.”

StarCraft 2 Release Pushed Back to 2010

August 8th, 2009 · Uncategorized

I was reading an article in the Wall Street Journal the other day about Activision, and the article reports that Blizzard is pushpin back the release of StarCraft II until 2010.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124950690027008965.html

“….pushed back two releases — “Singularity” and “StarCraft II” — into 2010, as it sees more difficult market conditions ahead”

“StarCraft II is expected to be released in the first half of 2010 to coincide with the relaunch of an upgraded online gaming service.”

Doh! I guess that gives me more time to put up some real fan graphics and make the site look good. Maybe Blizzard delayed the release because they saw this blog wasn’t ready yet.

StarCraft 2 Previews

April 19th, 2009 · Uncategorized

Here’s a link to the FAQ on the Blizzard site —

http://www.starcraft2.com/faq.xml

It’s hard to imagine a truly groundbreaking new release of this product, it may just be incremental stuff.

I was already thinking two years ago when the first previews were being shown in S. Korea, what is this but a very small improvements, renaming/re-imagining of some of the character types, etc. ? I think they may have been pretty early on in terms of development especially as far as the game engine goes… (any enhancements).

What are we going to see in the next few weeks and months? I do believe there are going to be some surprises!
